World Elephant Day is an international annual event on August 12, dedicated to the conservation and protection of the world's elephants.
The Thai elephant is the national animal of Thailand
The elephant is a powerful heavy ground animal. The elephant is an intelligent, clean, polite, honest, and aggressive animal. The male elephant heads the group and the female protects the elephant and baby. On the death of the partner and the infant in the group, they remain the same for a few days and do not even cry and eat food. The elephant group is strengthened by social and family ties. They help each other in the dark. When it is aggressive, it also puts the life of humans and other species in trouble. The skin of the elephant is thick which protects from sunlight. Elephants wash with dirt and mud. Mud also helps keep insects away. Elephant scent also has the power to remember. It can tell which area is soft and which area is difficult to walk or not. It is true that elephants never forget the way. Elephants can miss the pond of water hundreds of miles away and return to them every year. Their brains are very advanced, such as humans, dolphins, and chimpanzees.

Species and Gestational Period
More than 350 species were once found in the world. Now two species left: -
1. Asiatic elephant (Elephas maximus), Asian elephant is of gestation period of 18 - 22 months.
2. African elephant (Loxodonta ericana), African bush elephant has a gestational period of 22 months

Population and Sound Range
According to the 2020 census, around 400,000 - 450,000 elephants are left. Gradually this species is on extinction.

The voice of a man is usually 110 Hz. Humans mostly do not hear the sound of an elephant. Elephants have an amazing 4-octave vocal range, roaring between frequencies from 27 Hz to 470 Hz. Elephants can produce sounds of up to 112 decibels, allowing elephants up to a distance of 50 miles (80.47 km), according to nature documentary James Honeyborn - and they recognize the sounds of other elephants.

Colour and Size
Elephants are found in brown, reddish-grey, dark grey colour. African elephants are seen in a brown and reddish-brown color. Asian elephants especially have foreheads and ears and areas around them. But some patches are reduced.
The African bush elephant is 3.2 m (10.5 ft) in height. The Asian elephant height is 2.7 meters (8.8 ft).

Lifespan and Weight
The life span of the African bush elephant and African forest elephant is 60-70 years and the life span of the Asian elephant is 48 years.
The African bush elephant weighs 6,000 kg and the African forest elephant weighs 2,700 kg. The weight of an Asian elephant is 4,000 kg.

Business
Elephant parts are traded at the international level. An estimated 100 African elephants are killed every day in search of ivory, flesh, and body parts.

Food and Traffic
Elephants consume grass, small plants, bushes, fruits, twigs, tree bark, and roots. Tree bark is the elephant's favorite food source. It contains calcium and roughage, which aids digestion. They all enjoy fruits such as bananas, apples, pears and lettuce, spinach, broccoli, squash, and many other vegetables that you don't like very much. Wild elephants spend sixteen hours or more every day searching for food. They eat about 300 pounds (165 kg) worth of goods every day.

Elephants have been used in warfare, recreation, and traffic for centuries. The intelligence of elephants makes them trained. The circus is extensively trained to stand on its feet and perform other tricks. In ancient times, elephants were used to haul heavy goods and to ride and visit Maharajas and in war. Elephants were also used as hangmen in India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand until the late 18th and 19th centuries. Like crushing and dying.
